S’s class just completed a unit on butterflies.  Under the watchful eye of 22 kindergartners, caterpillars became pupae, became real butterflies!  After releasing them into the school garden last week, S rushed to grab my hand after school, so excited to show me the butterflies resting in the flowers.  We ran home to get the camera, hopped on our bikes and sped back to school to capture images of “les papillion”.  Three of her classmates were still there, also enjoying the excitement.

Over the weekend, we visited the Tropical Butterfly House at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle.  We learned that butterfly legs and wings shouldn’t really be touched by humans.  Maybe that was why our butterflies were so easy to find, “resting” in those flowers?  Oh dear.
